that's usually the problem :p. I used to have people complain about me always drafting storm, but the storm videos are just what did well in the youtube recommended. Now its the white videos which do well in recommended, so now I "always draft white" haha

I stop drafting to win at draft #203, and #200 was a pretty sick non-white deck too. The first two drafts of this season were boros though

they are at 12, and I have 8 points of burn and they take 2 from vortex, they would be at 2 life

About lands/mana in mtg. I have heard someone suggest all lands should have cycling, but i think that would change the game too much. But what about a rule where you can exile 3 lands (or 2) from your hand to draw a card? This mitigates the times where you are super flooded, but isn't something you would do during every game?

I'm fairly new to cubes and had a question. Is the whole cube always represented in a pod draft? Or some cards can't appear?

Vintage cube has 540 cards. You'll never see them all in a pod of 8.

Maybe in non-vintage formats. She's incredibly slow in vintage cube, and fetches are hard to get reliably

What would it take for drafting a blue deck in this draft? U got 5 good blue cards and the assumption is blue will be openish in pack 3 (and it was) since you cut it early. Not arguing that u did anything wrong, just interested in the thought process.

@Caleb Gannon MTG Well the reasoning is that blue is just better than the other colors, LSV said blue can support many drafters at a table and the power level is so high that it will (or should) never be open. I often see u dropping blue, would it be better to just not pick blue cards at all, or do u find that it is as open from time to time as the other colors can be?

It would just take blue being more open than white or red. Seventh pick swords to plowshares was a huge signal that I should be in white (I feel like that card is better than counterspell many times). Why only get blue cards in one pack when I can get red white cards from two remaining packs

I think Birgu would have been really good for the artifact side. Card draw in boros is broken

I love the trophy streaks. It makes me avoid the comment section until after the video to try and stay in suspense.

If you had p1p1 Fractured Identity over mana drain, do you think you would have ended up with a different deck?

I probably would have ended up more UW control is my guess. I would have taken the gideon like p2 or p3

I think most of the cards would be pretty decent in legacy or modern cube. The problem with showdown is that its a top end card that doesn't impact the board. I've stopped playing armageddon in most of my weenie decks even because I think 4 mana is often too much lol. I think it is decent (I was willing to play it in this deck) but ajani is a high bar since he was one of my favorite planeswalkers. Cosima's backside seems ok, but flying is what makes the copter good and there aren't too many blue decks that play the copter (mostly just UW I think?). Hitting free lands does seem nice, but I don't see myself putting this card in any of my vintage decks.

@Caleb Gannon MTG I think a lot of that also stems from the newness of the cards and not having enough experience to really evaluate how they play. Ajani in a vacuum is stronger but I think in a more dedicated aggro deck (2-3 four drops and zero 5+ drops) softs (showdown of the skalds) can definitely pull some work, but maybe legacy would be a slightly better format for the new cards? Also i wonder if the backside of cosima might be better than you think, though I agree on the front half

I think some of them are probably better than I initially gave them credit for. Magda has my vote for being the one I was the most wrong about currently. I don't mind the boros card, its worse than Ajani by far but at least interesting/different. I still think cosima is quite awful in this format though

I quit watching after you gave up on the sweet looking U/R deck for boros yet again. I have no idea how good your final deck was or if you managed a trophy. Point is, I've seen you draft WW, mono red, and all other permutations of aggro and I know you do it well. I was excited for something different (seeing drain as the thumbnail) but you went straight back to your bread and butter. Unfortunately you've lost my interest.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm imagining this is more of a factor of the youtube algorithm than anything. My last vintage cube videos in order were WUBR nonsense, UW midrange, Naya Dragons, black red birthing pod and artifact storm. I don't know how much more diverse you can want than that.

I can never win lol. Sometimes people complain about my thumbnails spoiling the video and sometimes people complain that the thumbnail doesn't spoil the video. This one literally is as close to a middle ground that can exist and I still get complaints lol

Yeah I've played the boat. the power isn't obvious, but in the right deck it's great. It's either a 3/3 that dodges sorcery speed removal that more or less draws you a card when it connects. I wouldn't say it's a card I'd be happy picking early, because it fits a weird fringe. It definitely deserves a spot in cube more than Thada Adel though

Stuff like how your deck ended up is why I like fractured identity over mana drain. Fractured identity can be played in most white or blue decks, while mana drain needs heavy blue. And blue can often be overdrafted in vintage cube, leading modt of my blue decks to be blue splashes that don’t want UU cards.

@Caleb Gannon MTG it's very rarely optimal to make 2/2 creatures with it. Early in that draft, when you had the option to pick it up, you were still fairly open and starting to lean a bit more into white. It's best in go wide strategies and when it can be played ahead of the curve, so vintage cube can be perfect for that. The second ability of pumping your team can mean the difference between one or more attacks before killing your opponent. I love your videos, and didn't mean for this to come off as a critique of your decisions at all though. In a format with fetches and other ways to trigger landfall (you picked up land tax lol) putting +1/+1 counters on your team can mean that you can race unfair decks. If you have 3 2/2 creatures and hit land drops before attacks on 3 subsequent turns you're now dealing 27 damage instead of 18. It can drastically speed up aggro kills.

I don't think so. Even if you play it and three more lands (7 total lands), 4 mana for 3 2/2's is only a medium rate. And many vintage cube games don't last long enough to get up to 7 lands. In a land heavy deck with prime time fastbond and stuff I could see it but I think its pretty narrow.

Have you tried drafting an "ideal" deck based off of that spreadsheet with all your winrates on the cards and stuff? Given that its draft its most likely not possible but you could probably get close.
