  • Condition: Salvaged from Central CT. It's made entirely of maple, and is stained and finished. It was made sometime around the middle of the previous century. Since it was made in the US, it was built like a rock. I had my 40-lb 5-year old daughter try it. She has always tested the rocking horses I listed. She said it felt strong and she didn't feel nervous about tipping over sideways or falling back. Our carpenter inspected the piece from top to bottom, and there was nothing for him to repair, replace, or reinforce. He just tightened all of the screws for good measure. The horse has the common nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on an old, used toy, but no breaks, cracks, rot, or warp. All of the joints are tight, and overall, the rocker is strong, sturdy, and ready for a lifetime of service. Unpainted Vintage Wooden Rocking Horse
    Lovely
, vintage, rocking horse salvaged from Central Connecticut. It's made entirely of maple, and is stained and finished. The horse's hair, eyes, nostril, and bridle are painted black and it's mouth is red.
It was made sometime around the middle of the previous century. Since it was made in the US, it was built like a rock using good quality wood & screws. We had an expert--my 40 lb, 5 year old daughter--take it for a test drive. Anytime I got a rocking horse over the years, she would try it out for me. She said it felt strong and she didn't feel nervous about tipping over sideways or falling back.
Our carpenter inspected the piece from top to bottom, and there was nothing for him to repair, replace, or reinforce. He just tightened all of the screws for good measure.

has the common nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on an old, used toy, but no breaks, cracks, rot, or warp. All of the joints are tight, and overall, the rocker is strong, sturdy, and ready for a lifetime of service.
